Streamer Effects International (SEI) has been in operation in NB since 1997 serving an international clientele in the entertainment industry. The company provides unique products used for special effects in large venues for popular music, theatrical presentations and Vegas style spectaculars. Major entertainment figures in North America and Europe are counted among the company client list. The special effects delivered by the company greatly enhance the public experience at such events and are a key element in the success of the show.

Job Description:

SEI is embarking on a new cycle of innovation with plans for a range of next generation special effects products that will have big impact on the entertainment industry. The candidate will play an important role in advancing a range of new and interesting effects.

The position is based at company manufacturing facilities in Salisbury NB and is a full time salaried position. The candidate must be available for a minimum 30 hours to maximum 40 hours work week and willing to work flexible hours from time to time. There may be some requirement to work overtime on odd occasions to help meet deadlines.

The Candidate:

The position requires a creative mind with the ability to grasp new concepts and translate these ideas into designs and tangible prototypes. A passion for inventing solutions that will address mechanical challenges is needed. You will need to show enthusiastic participation in a “Creative Think Tank” setting. You will participate in brainstorming different mechanical solutions that can lead to high quality products that achieve simple, economical solutions and are consistently reliable.

Good inter-personal communication skills for both oral and written are an asset. The role requires collaboration and teamwork. The candidate must also be able to work independently.

Qualifications:

Graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology Program at the Community College level or higher (Bachelor Eng.) in an accredited institution. Proficiency in the English language spoken and written. The candidate must not be over the age of 30 years at the time employment begins. Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status is a pre-requisite. A driver's license is needed.

Skills:

Technical skills in line with an accredited mechanical engineering technician diploma will be exploited in the job. Key capabilities will include:

Basic understanding of how to integrate electric/electronic components;

Ability to create CAD drawings complete with detailed specifications;

Management of subcontractor relationships and guidance of processes to build final product(s);

Ability to source parts and components needed for product R&D activities;

 

Ability to use conventional tools (i.e., table saws, drills etc.) to assist in the building of R&D prototypes;

Maintenance of a daily log of all R&D activities (i.e., brainstorming, designing, sourcing parts and components, prototype building, final construction etc.).

Experience

Technical experience with some of the following domains would also be an asset:

PLC

Design and CAD

Prototyping

Tool and Die

Discrete manufacturing production lines

Paper machinery handling

Project management and reporting

Technical documentation
